A special camp will be held on October 14 in Uttarkashi’s disaster-hit Dharali village, where essential certificates for affected families, including residence, income, caste and compensation, will be issued on the spot.
The Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya stated this during his visit to Dharali to inspect reconstruction work in the area affected by recent disasters late on Saturday. He interacted with villagers to hear their concerns and issued directions to officials present at the site. Arya instructed departments including Health, Revenue, Social Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj to participate in the special camp to ensure smooth issuance of certificates and services to affected families.
During the visit, Arya inspected the construction of the apple collection and grading centre and instructed officials to accelerate work and complete it within the set timeline. He stated that the centre will benefit local farmers and increase transparency in apple marketing. He also reviewed safety works along the Mukba pedestrian route and emphasised the importance of maintaining security and facilities in disaster-affected areas.
The DM also checked arrangements for the Char Dham Yatra and directed officials to ensure proper maintenance of cleanliness, drinking water, toilets and other basic facilities along the routes and at key stops. The apple season is currently active in Dharali and nearby villages including Sukhi, Jhala, Jaspur, Purali and Harsil.
Pilgrims visiting the area are buying fresh apples, providing direct income to local farmers. Arya stated that the combination of apple production, marketing and tourism is supporting the local economy.
