Special efforts needed to attract more tourists in U’khand: Governor

The governor Lieutenant General ( Retd) Gurmit Singh has said that special efforts are needed to attract more tourists in Uttarakhand. He was addressing a meeting of the officers of the State tourism and the civil aviation departments at Rajbhawan on Wednesday. The officers of the two departments gave a presentation of the works undertaken by them for the development of tourism. The governor said that tourism is a blessing for the State and apart from development of tourism spots there is a need for publicity of these spots. He said that the State has vast potential in the field of tourism, wellness, natural and organic farming. People from all parts of the world are visiting the State for Yoga and Ayurveda. There is a need to link all of them with tourism, he said.
The tourism minister Satpal Maharaj said that Shakti circuit, Navratri circuit, Shaiv circuit, Vaishnav circuit and Vivekandand circuit are being developed in the State to promote religious and spiritual tourism.
The additional chief executive officer of Tourism development board Yugal Kishore Pant said that development works in 48 temples are proposed under Manaskhand Mandir mala mission in Kumaon region. He said that the token system was put in practice in Char Dham Yatra this year. Pant said that 41,23,377 pilgrims have visited the State so far for the Char Dham Yatra this year.
