SPIC MACAY State convention starts in Doon

The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) commenced its three-day State Convention 2024 at the Unison World School here on Thursday. The programme will continue till August 24. The aim of the convention is to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage to students of Uttarakhand, with the guidance of celebrated artists and master artisans. Over 450 students have registered for workshops to be held as part of the convention. In addition to this, several schools from the Dehradun, Kumaon and Garhwal regions will also be part of the three-day programme.
On the first day of the programme, workshops for students in 16 art forms were conducted. In addition to this, an orientation programme, Raj Rakt by Naya Theatre was presented during the programme.
Additional secretary of Higher Education, Ashish Kumar Srivastava was the chief guest on the inaugural day.
Speaking on the occasion, the national chairperson of SPIC MACAY, RM Tiwari, expressed happiness about the programme and stated that with this programme, students will learn from some of the most renowned Gurus in the country.
Further, the principal of the Unison World School Mona Khanna stated that with this programme, the SPIC MACAY organisation promotes and preserves the tangible and intangible aspects of Indian and world heritage by organising programmes and workshops related to Indian classical and folk music and dance, yoga, meditation, crafts and other aspects of Indian culture.
