PM touches on Char Dham road project, Karnprayag rail line, OROP & development while adhering to core Hindutva agenda in his address
Although Prime Minister Narendra Modi avoided political issues and refrained from targeting opposition parties in his address in Kedarnath on Friday the tone and tenor of his speech set the agenda of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the forthcoming assembly elections. In fact it appeared that the PM was carrying forward the political momentum generated by the recent visit of Home Minister Amit Shah for the BJP from the lofty heights of holy Kedarnath. In his recent visit Shah had said that the people of Uttarakhand should give five more years to BJP as filling the ditches created during the Congress regime would take time to fill.
The PM emphatically stated that he has changed the adage ‘ Pahad Ka Pani and Pahad Ki Jawani Pahad Ke Kaam Nahi Aate’ as development is occurring at a rapid pace in the Himalayan state and it would stop migration from the mountainous areas. He also prophesied that the third decade of the 21st century would be of Uttarakhand. Shifting gears effortlessly between spiritualism and scoring political vantage points in his 50 minute long speech, the PM said that the dream of the highlanders for rail service is getting realized by the Rishikesh- Karnprayag rail link and work on the all weather road is going on at full pace. He also declared that people would be able to reach Kedarnath in their car in the near future.
Modi stuck to Hindutva, the core agenda of BJP by stating that a grand Ram Temple is coming up at Ayodhya and said that a mega Deepotsava was held in the holy city on the occasion of Deepawali. He added that complete renovation of Kashi is also taking place. Understanding the importance of the vote bank of ex-servicemen and the family members of the serving personnel of armed forces, the PM said that it was his government which accepted the age-old demand of One Rank One Pension (OROP) for the ex-servicemen. He also added that the modernisation plan of armed forces would benefit the soldiers and their families.
