The Sports department has started developing a database of volunteers for upcoming events. This initiative aligns with the preparation for the 38th National Games, highlighting the increasing need for a volunteer database as Uttarakhand gets ready for significant events in the future, according to Sports minister Rekha Arya.
Arya informed that the Sports department is actively taking steps to facilitate this process, with volunteer registration currently ongoing for the National Games. Officials from the Sports department believe that establishing a database of volunteers for this significant event would be beneficial for future initiatives. Uttarakhand has successfully hosted major events recently, including the Investor Summit and the G-20 Summit, which has underscored the need for human resources in preparation for upcoming large-scale events, she said.
Arya further said that there is considerable enthusiasm among the public to volunteer for the National Games, with 30,000 individuals having registered so far. Out of these, about 2,000 to 2,500 will be selected and trained. She said that after their training, these selected volunteers will receive a separate certificate specifically for their participation in the National Games. Additionally, selected volunteers will be entitled to travel allowances l and daily allowances. The selection process will commence once the registration phase is complete, she said.
She has instructed the department to ensure a balanced representation, with 50 per cent of the volunteers being girls and 50 per cent being boys.
Arya said, “Volunteer registration is a valuable opportunity for the youth of Uttarakhand to gain experience in a large-scale event. By participating, they can be a part of a significant occasion that will be beneficial for their future endeavours.”
