Srinagar & Almora medical colleges to get 60 assistant professors each

In view of the shortage of the faculty in the medical colleges located in the mountainous areas, the State government has decided to send most of the recently recruited assistant professors to these colleges. The Medical Education department would appoint 60 assistant professors each in the Government Medical College in Almora and Government Medical College in Srinagar out of 171 assistant professors recently recruited. The government medical college in Haldwani would get 40 while government Doon Medical College (GDMC) would get 11 assistant professors from the latest recruitment drive
. The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that orders have been given to the department to give priority to Almora and Srinagar medical colleges while making appointments of assistant professors. He said that the appointment letters to these assistant professors would be given by the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on March 22. Similarly an employment fair would be held at the residence of CM on March 21 when appointment letters to 824 Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) by the CM. As per the National Medical Commission (NMC) there is a 30 per cent shortage of faculty in Srinagar and Almora medical colleges.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Uttarakhand Medical Services Selection Board (UKMSSB) had recruited 171 assistant professors in different disciplines of medical sciences. The newly recruited candidates would be appointed in the pay scale of Rs 67,700 to Rs 2,08,700 and would be deployed in the vacant posts in the government medical colleges of the state. In Uttarakhand there are four functional government medical colleges; the Government Doon Medical College, Medical College Haldwani, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Medical College Srinagar and Almora medical college.
