A woman who was found injured on January 13 has been identified by her sister who lives in Haridwar. The police said that the woman was found unconscious under a bridge near Thano Road on Saturday. The police admitted her to the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital where doctors found a bullet stuck inside her head during the treatment that indicates that somebody possibly tried to kill her. The doctors removed the bullet but her health has not been stable enough to give a statement to the police about her injuries.
Considering this, a police force has been deployed in the hospital for security purposes on the directions of Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh, as per the officials. They said that after the police circulated the photo and video of the injured woman through social media platforms, a woman named Kavya contacted the Raipur police station and claimed to be the victim’s younger sister, a resident of Haridwar’s Jwalapur. She identified the woman as Taniya who reportedly used to live with her husband Shubham Dayal in Haryana’s Sonipat. She came to meet her sister in the hospital on Sunday.
According to the officials, Kavya told the police that Taniya had a love marriage about three years ago and came home only four to five times with her husband and father-in-law during this period. The officials said she was not in regular touch with her family in Haridwar and had talked to Kavya on the phone about two months ago. According to her, there was allegedly a property related dispute between Taniya’s father-in-law Prabhu Dayal and his brothers.
The officials said that as per the primary investigation of the police here, Dayal went missing in September 2023 in Sonipat and a missing person complaint was registered in the police station there. After that, the injured woman and her husband had also allegedly gone from their home and switched off their mobiles. The officials said that the police registered a case under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code at Raipur police station on Kavya’s complaint and will proceed accordingly after getting the victim’s statement.
