Two young boys were felicitated by Dehradun Police for their brave act that saved a woman’s life in the Dalanwala area of the city. The incident took place on the night of December 21, 2025 on Mohini Road. A woman was sitting outside an office when her jacket suddenly caught fire from a burning lamp.
Seeing the fire engulfing her, two boys, who were passing by, acted quickly. The boys, Pranvat Singh (15) and Divjot Singh (10), had shown great presence of mind and courage, a police officer said, adding that they had immediately run up to the woman and put out the fire on her clothes, preventing serious injury and saving her life.
The senior superintendent of police (SSP) Dehradun, Ajai Singh honoured these boys at a special programme held here on Wednesday. He hailed their efforts and presented them certificates.
The SSP exhorted the children to always help others and continue showing the same courage and responsibility in the future. “Their act has been widely appreciated and is being seen as an inspiring example of bravery and humanity among young children,” he added.
