SSP Haridwar Ajay Singh has issued new speed limit guidelines to control road accidents, warning that those who will over-speed in defiance of the guidelines would face stringent action as per the Motor Vehicles Act. The SSP has further fixed speed limit for vehicles plying on the National Highway at 33 places under the sub-section 112 of the section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.
SSP said that the main objective behind controlling vehicle speed in some particular areas is to stop accidents. He said boards with speed limits written on them have been installed at several places and efforts are being made to do the same at other already identified places.
