Dehradun senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar has directed all police station in-charges to conduct physical inspection of each de-addiction and rehabilitation centre in their respective areas to take action against those violating the rules. He asked the officials to verify all relevant documents of the centres along with other necessary arrangements including doctors and health care facilities mandatory for the treatment of addicts.
The police should also take feedback from the drug addicts admitted there so that information can be gathered about the facilities available to them and the problems faced there. He said that police will take strict legal action against such centres flouting norms. Besides this, the SSP has also ordered the police station in-charges to identify such senior citizens in their respective areas who are living alone and make a list.
The police must provide them with the contact number of the in-charge and other police personnel concerned. He said that the officials concerned should also make regular personal visits to the respective houses of senior citizens and connect to them through phone to inquire about their well-being and whether they are facing any issue they might need help with. He asked the officials to take all measures to make the lives of senior citizens convenient and safe across the district.
