Stating that negligence during work hours will not be tolerated, the Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh on Wednesday issued an order to deduct the salaries of 25 police personnel who were found absent during a surprise inspection. This decision caused a stir in the police department in Haridwar and several police personnel approached the SSP office for relief. Singh conducted an inspection of various sections of the district police office and found 25 personnel absent from their respective duties. Acting against this undisciplined behaviour, Singh immediately issued the order to deduct the one-day salary of 25 personnel besides holding the salary of 23 personnel till further orders. He said that he conducted the surprise inspection after the successful completion of the Kanwad Yatra in the district to check work management in various sections of the police. He said that the department is extremely strict about negligence on duty, especially about the unauthorised absence of police officials and personnel during duty hours. A notice has been sent to all absent personnel regarding the deduction from their salaries. He said that an unauthorised absence from duty will not be tolerated and all should know that there are repercussions to such negligent behaviour. “I have made it clear to all that they will not get paid if they are not working,” added SSP.
