In latest news from Dehradun, determined to refurbish the image of the Dehradun police following the daring day-light dacoity at a branded jewellery showroom on the upscale Rajpur Road, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ajai Singh made on-site inspection of the police alertness at the sensitive checkpoint barriers across the city in the late night hours and suspended a cop found negligent in duty. The SSP found lapses at the Saharanpur Chowk barrier and called the circle officer (CO), city and the station house officer to the spot. Similarly, with lack of the required level of vigilance found at Jogiwala barrier, the SSP called the CO, Dalanwala. And around 4 in the morning, Singh found negligence at the Harawala barrier, called the CO, Doiwala and suspended the in-charge of the police barrier. The SSP later made it clear that the police must work hard day and night to ensure security for the residents of Doon and no negligence on the part of the police personnel would be brooked.
