State administration to complete all pending proposal of police on time: Sandhu

The chief secretary SS Sandhu said on Friday that the State administration will dispose of all the pending police-related proposals on time. He also directed the police department to establish coordination with the police of neighbouring States to maintain law and order in Uttarakhand. He stated this on Friday during the third session of Police Week in Dehradun on the theme ‘Uttarakhand Police Manthan-Challenges and Solutions’. The additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, who was part of the second session of the event on Friday, said that the State administration will soon start construction of new houses for police personnel after declaring all dilapidated houses as unusable to improve their living standards. The director general of police Ashok Kumar also said that the police department will also send proposals to the government for the appointment of a law officer and cyber expert on contractual basis for technical assistance to police in each district. He said that the police will soon provide permanent mobile numbers for women help desks in all districts under the Gaura Shakti Abhiyan. He said that police will analyse all suggestions and inputs given by police officials and others during sessions and take action accordingly. Apart from conducting meetings with officials, the police also held a public interaction programme in the Police Line which was attended by Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’.

Inspector general Kewal Khurana said that this is the first time when a direct interaction between police officials and public has been set up in the State by the police department. Terming the interaction programme important, he said that public issues can be resolved only with their cooperation. He appealed to the public to join police’s programmes like traffic volunteer and civil defence to establish coordination between people and police to resolve prevalent issues.
