State begins collecting details of those stranded in Ukraine

State Govt in constant touch with MoEA, will bring back all citizens safely- CM Dhami

With the situation in Ukraine worsening following the actions taken by Russia, the State administration has directed all district magistrates and senior superintendents of police to provide information about citizens from their respective districts stranded in Ukraine. Meanwhile, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also assured family members of those still in Ukraine that the State government is in touch with the Central government and will ensure that the people from Uttarakhand are brought back safely. The chief minister also shared on social media that the State government is in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs and reiterated the government’s commitment to bring every Uttarakhandi back safely from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, the state administration has directed all the district magistrates and senior superintendents of police to provide information about people from their districts stranded in Ukraine. Citizens who have a family member stranded in Ukraine can provide all relevant information about that person by calling 112. The stranded person’s address in Uttarakhand and Ukraine, passport number, mobile phone number, e-mail address and other such relevant details are to be provided to the state administration so that necessary efforts can be ensured through the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate the return of such people from Ukraine.

It is pertinent to mention here that there are a considerable number of people from Uttarakhand who are in Ukraine for educational or business purposes. The exact details of the number of such people are being gathered by the authorities. A number of youth from Dehradun and other cities in Uttarakhand are studying for MBBS in Ukraine. Though the Indian government had asked its citizens to leave Ukraine earlier this week, the situation escalated swiftly and has left a number of Indians stranded there. A number of those from Uttarakhand who are stranded in Ukraine are in touch with their family members here via video calls and other means.
