State cooperative banks earn Rs 70 crore as net profit in last FY

The state cooperatives minister Dhan Singh Rawat said on Wednesday that the Cooperative banks of the state have earned a net profit of Rs 70 crore and gross profit of Rs 184 crore in the year 2022-23. While undertaking a review meeting of the seniors officers of cooperative department and cooperative banks at the directorate of the State Integrated Cooperative Development Project, he asked the officers of the district cooperative banks to raise the net profit from Rs 70 crore to Rs 100 crore and gross profit from Rs 184 crore to Rs 200 crore in the current financial year.
The minister further said that the cooperative banks which have been incurring losses should be shifted to other places. He instructed the officials to reduce the number of non-performing assets (NPA) and run a campaign to recover the dues. Taking note of the less recovery in Bageshwar- 64 percent this time down from 94 percent last year- Rawat asked the assistant registrar of the district as to why the recovery rate had come down. The officer said that he would set a target regarding recovery this year.
The minister reviewed the opening of CSC Centres, 95 Jan Aushadhi Cooperative Centres, 95 Madho Singh Bhandari Joint Cooperative Farming Centres across 95 blocks of the state. He said that he himself would go to these blocks to inspect things and asked all associated with the cooperative banks to work with a target-oriented attitude.
Dwelling on the loans distributed among the farmers by the cooperative banks, he said that in the year 2022-23, Rs 1644 crore had been distributed among farmers under the Deendayal Kisan Kalyan Yojana at zero percent interest rate. He instructed the officials to raise this figure to Rs 1900 crore this year.
As per the department the net profit figure for Dehradun is Rs 476.63 lakh while for Kotdwar it is Rs 593.02 lakh, for Chamoli it is Rs 575.63 lakh, for Uttarkashi Rs 611.59 lakh, for Haridwar Rs 228.37 lakh, for Udham Singh Nagar Rs 774.47 lakh, for Nainital Rs 523.58 lakh, for Tehri 901.90 lakh, for Pithoragarh Rs 411.95 lakh and for Almora the net profit is Rs 545.72 lakh. It is noteworthy that the district cooperative bank Tehri Garhwal has made the highest net profit of Rs 9 crore among the district cooperative banks.
