State employees hold protest for restoration of old pension

Hundreds of employees of state government marched to the state Secretariat here on Monday to demand the restoration of old pension under the aegis of National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS). The protest rally commenced from the Parade Ground in the presence of the national president of NMOPS, Vijay Bandhu and hundreds of protestors.
The state secretary of the association, Mukesh Raturi informed that about 12,000 to 15,000 state employees arrived from various districts and participated in the rally. He said that when the police barricaded the stretch before the Secretariat, the protestors protested near the barricaded area. He said that all the protestors were protesting for their rights and the government must pay heed to their demand. He said, “On observing thousands of protestors, the public relation officer (PRO) of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mulayam Singh Rawat approached us and asked to suspend our protest for today. He said that the CM will talk to our representatives on Tuesday and will discuss the issues.” He added that if the government will not consider their demand of the restoration of old pension, they will escalate the protest in coming weeks.
