The State Government on Wednesday allocated an amount of Rs 9.35 crore against Rs 35 crores for payment of dividend to ration dealers in fair price shops under National Food Security Act, (NFSA) 2013. The Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Rekha Arya said that the central government from January 1, 2023 made the food grains free for beneficiaries of priority household (PHH) ration cards and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards. However the payments to ration vendors were not made due to lack of clarity between the centre and the State regarding the payment of dividend to the vendors. She said that All India Fair Price Shop Dealers Federation Uttarakhand had also demanded the department in January to pay dividend to ration vendors under NFSA.
Considering this, Arya conducted a review meeting with representatives of vendors of fair price shops from all districts and the officials concerned. Arya had issued instructions to the officials in the meeting to take action for budget allocation to pay the pending payments of ration dealers under NFSA within a month. In the line of the same, the government on Wednesday allocated Rs 9.35 crore for such vendors of all districts which will be released to all soon. She said that the department will also make payments of the remaining amount soon too.
