State Govt committed to make U’khand drugs-free: CM

 Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the State government is consistently endeavoring for preventing drug trafficking and destroying its network in Uttarakhand.

The CM said this while addressing drugs-free Devbhoomi mission-2025 programme at Gandhi Park here on Tuesday.

 He said that the government has taken up a target to make Uttarakhand drugs-free by the year 2025 and everyone should participate in the campaign. He said that addiction not only harms the person but also damages his family and the societal setup.  The CM said that on one hand the awareness against drug abuse is increasing while on the other hand strict action is being taken against the criminals engaged in drug trafficking. He informed that a total of 600 cases under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act have been registered this year in the State and 750 culprits have been arrested. A three tier anti-narcotics task force has been constituted in the year 2022 for prevention of drug abuse.

 The CM said that the de-addiction centres are being made effective in the State for preventing drug abuse and bringing the affected people back into the mainstream of the society and their rehabilitation.  He added that four integrated rehabilitation centres for addicts are operational in the state.

 The CM said that the State government has undertaken a drugs-free campaign and it has issued helpline numbers for information and assistance to general public in this regard.

Dhami exuded confidence that with public cooperation and efforts of social organisations, the State will achieve the target of drugs-free Devbhoomi before the stipulated time.

 He praised the efforts of Adarsh Industrial Autonomous Cooperatives (AIAC) in this regard. The CM also administered an oath to make Uttarakhand free from drugs to the people attending the programme.

The chairperson of AIAC Asha Kothari , Prant Pracharak Pramukh of RSS Sanjay, director of School Education Seema Jaunsari and others attended the programme.
