State govt declares State holiday on July 17 for Harela Festival celebration

In latest Uttarakhand news, the Harela Festival will be celebrated in the State on July 17 and the State government has declared holiday on that day, as per a government notification issued. Earlier, July 16 was declared as the State holiday as the day of the festival. But later, the State government issued a notification approved by the Governor, changing the date from July 16 to July 17.  Notably, Harela Festival is part and parcel of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage and keeping this fact in view, the State government declared a State holiday on the day of the festival for the first time in 2021.
