State Govt releases Rs 450 crore for making roads pothole-free

The State government has released a sum of Rs 450 crore for repairing the damaged roads in the State. The government has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to make the roads of the State free of potholes before December this year. The Pushkar Singh Dhami government is planning to hold a global investors summit in Dehradun in December this year.
The additional chief secretary (ACS) Radha Raturi said that a sum of Rs 450 crore has been released for patchworks of roads in the State. The ACS has given a deadline of two months ( from October 1 to November 30) to the district magistrates of Garhwal division to undertake an intensive campaign to make the roads free of potholes.
Raturi chaired a review meeting with the DMs of Garhwal division at the secretariat on Tuesday. She said that a provision of Rs 300 crore has been made for road safety this year and exercise at State administration level for installing crash barriers in the mountainous areas of the State has been done. Raturi directed the DMs to send proposals in this regard to the State administration. She directed the Health department to set up a help desk at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh for the patients coming from the mountainous areas of the State. The desk will also help in making Ayushman cards of such patients.
In the meeting the ACS directed the officers to improve medical, health, drinking water, roads and education facilities better in the districts of Garhwal division.
Raturi said that in view of increasing cases of dengue the DMs should set up dengue control rooms in their respective districts and focus on awareness and sanitation campaigns to combat the disease. She directed the DMs and chief medical officers to improve facilities in the hospitals. The ACS also directed the DMs to ensure active participation of district administration in the PMGSY scheme and its regular monitoring. Raturi ordered that the best practices in waste management should be adopted in the districts of Garhwal division especially on the Char Dham Yatra route. On a stern note, she said that a proposal for construction of a bridge in the area where use of temporary trolleys is being done. Raturi asked the DMs to earmark parking spots at the tourist places and char dham Yatra route and send the proposals to the State administration.
The meeting was attended by secretary Radhika Jha, director general of information Bansidhar Tiwari, additional secretary Amandeep Kaur, Vineet Kumar and others. The DMs of Garhwal division attended the meeting virtually.
