State Health Authority chairman Kotia resigns

The chairman of the State Health Authority (SHA), DK Kotia has tendered his resignation. In a one line letter written to the chief secretary, Kotia submitted his resignation.
Talking to The Pioneer, Kotia said that he has resigned from his position and added that he had been working for long and had now decided to leave.
A retired officer of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Kotia has served as the chief secretary of the State and is known for his honesty and integrity. He was instrumental in the successful implementation of the ambitious Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the State. Under him health cards of more than 51 lakh people in the State have been made so far and a total 7.80 lakh patients have so far availed the benefit of scheme and received treatment in the listed private and government hospitals. The Ayushman scheme was launched on September 23, 2018 in the State. Under the scheme a health insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh is provided to every family. The Uttarakhand government has spent a sum of Rs 1424 Crores in the Ayushman scheme in the State ever since it was launched.
After the sudden resignation of Kotia, the State government will now have to find a suitable replacement for him to head the flagship health scheme.
