State higher education council to meet today in remote Paithani

The 11th meeting of the State Higher Education Council is all set to take place Thursday to be chaired by the State Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat at the Government Professional College in Paithani under the Srinagar Assembly constituency limits.
Stating this on Wednesday, Rawat said that the council meeting would involve an in-depth discussion on approximately three dozen significant topics, including the PM USHA initiative, NAAC accreditation, the Prime Minister Jan Vikas Yojana, the chief minister’s higher education research promotion scheme, the meritorious student award scheme, the higher education promotion scholarship and the establishment of libraries in colleges.
He further said that the meeting would cover the updated status of new construction projects, including buildings, libraries and laboratories as well as the progress of hostel construction and the strengthening of 20 model colleges in the State. Additional topics will include financial assistance for meritorious students aiming for competitive examinations, partnership of universities and colleges with various industrial units, research institutes, and academic units as well as the operational status of various courses and professional programmes in accordance with the PM USHA initiative.
He emphasised that suggestions from experts in various fields would be gathered during this brainstorming session to develop a concrete policy for future plans which would serve as a milestone in the advancement of higher education.
Rawat said this meeting is taking place in a remote area for the first time, reflecting the specific needs of the hilly region. Based on the insights gained during the session, a comprehensive policy would be crafted to enhance higher education and support the economic and social development of the mountainous areas, he added.
