State records this year’s highest number of Covid cases in a single day
366 new Covid positive cases reported on Sunday with 42 persons recovering from the disease
A day before Holi, Uttarakhand reported the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases in a single day this year on Sunday. A total of 366 positive cases were reported in the state while 42 persons recovered from the disease on Sunday. There were no deaths of Covid patients reported in the state on the day. Before this, the highest number of Covid positive cases in a single day this year- 361 was reported on January 1.
According to information provided by the health department, of the 366 Covid positive cases reported in the state on Sunday, the highest- 167 are from Dehradun district, 59 from Haridwar, 54 from Tehri and 31 from Nainital. Among the other districts, three positive cases were reported from Almora, two from Bageshwar, 17 from Pauri, four from Rudraprayag, three from Pithoragarh, 20 from Udham Singh Nagar and six from Uttarkashi. No new Covid positive cases were reported on Sunday from Chamoli and Champawat districts.
The total cumulative positive Covid-19 cases detected in the state so far are 99,881 with 95,025 patients being cured and 1,709 patients dying. The mortality rate of the disease in the state is currently 1.71 per cent while the recovery percentage is 95.14 per cent. According to official data, of the total of 1,660 active Covid cases in the state the highest- 591 are in Dehradun district followed by 494 in Haridwar and 133 in Nainital. The number of active cases in the other districts include 124 in Tehri district, 79 in Udham Singh Nagar, 73 in Pauri, 39 in Almora, 11 in Bageshwar, 19 in Chamoli, 20 in Champawat, 19 in Pithoragarh, 29 in Rudraprayag and 29 also in Uttarkashi.
Meanwhile, vaccination has also continued in the state with 3,306 beneficiaries vaccinated in 89 sessions in the state on Sunday. So far, a total of 1,21,441 beneficiaries have been fully vaccinated, 3,13,128 beneficiaries aged 60 years and above have received their first dose and 23,288 beneficiaries aged 45-59 years with comorbidity have been administered their first dose.
