State Science & Technology Conference starts today

In an effort to enhance knowledge related to science, the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology (UCOST), in collaboration with Doon University, will organise the 19th State Science and Technology Conference from November 28 to 30. The UCOST director general Durgesh Pant informed that governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh and chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate the conference at Doon University. The theme of this year’s State Science and Technology Conference is “Water and Natural Resource Management in the Context of Uttarakhand”. This theme emphasises the integration of sustainable resource management and scientific advancement to address the challenges faced in the Himalayan region, he said.
This annual event provides a platform for the scientific community, researchers, academics and students. The conference will offer participants the opportunity to engage through discussions, lectures and brainstorming sessions on various topics. Additionally, talented young scientists from Uttarakhand will be encouraged to showcase their research work, contributing to advancements in science, technology, research and education in the State, he added.
Pant further informed that the 19th conference will include an inaugural session, an exhibition where rural individuals, entrepreneurs, NGOs, self-help groups, academic institutions and government agencies can display their best work, as well as discussion sessions on various scientific topics. Abstracts of original research work, experiments and success stories related to various disciplines including agriculture, biotechnology, chemistry, medical sciences, botany, home science, geology, mathematics, engineering, physics, rural sciences and biology have also been invited. The UCOST DG said that the event will feature seven discussion and brainstorming sessions, engaging various subject experts.
