State to import 20 lakh doses of Sputnik V in next two months

The state government will import 20 lakh doses of Sputnik V vaccine in the next two months. A committee has been formed for this purpose and the funds have also been arranged. Stating this while addressing the media, chief secretary Om Prakash said that the state is in constant touch with the Centre. The vaccine doses being received now are less than required.
The state will receive eight lakh and nine lakh doses this month and the next month respectively and that too on the condition that those who have had their first dose should be administered the second dose. He said that the state is also in touch with the major companies in the country to secure vaccines in addition to the doses being provided by the Centre. Some doses have been received while some more are to be received by the state. Om Prakash further said that strict action will be initiated against hospitals and chemists found over charging, black marketing medicines or providing spurious medicines. He further informed that two oxygen containers of 20 metric tonnes each have been allotted to the state. The state government has requested the Centre to provide more containers and is expecting to receive six more containers by Friday.
Inspector general Amit Sinha informed that the based on information received about black marketing, about 136 locations had been checked on Tuesday. A total of 24 FIRs have been registered so far while 35 accused have been arrested and 204 recoveries have been made. He further said that about Rs 4.26 crore had been collected in compounding charge with challans being issued to 2.61 lakh people for violating various Covid guidelines. He requested the citizens to inform the police about black marketing or sale of spurious medicines.
