State-wide protests held against use of force on unemployed youths

ACS Raturi meets a delegation of unemployed youth
A day after the violent protest on the roads of Dehradun by the unemployed youngsters and use of force by the Police, anger was clearly visible among the youngsters on Friday. Protests were held in different parts of the State by the unemployed, opposition parties and other organisations. However the Uttarakhand Bandh call given by the unemployed had no effect in most parts of the State. The District administration imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 around Gandhi Park and Parade ground on Friday. These places were the epicentre of the student protest on Thursday.
In Dehradun the unemployed youths held a protest outside the office of District Magistrate (DM) on Friday. The agitated youths were demanding withdrawal of the cases registered against the protesters and announcement of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Apart from Dehradun, reports of protest came from other districts also.
Meanwhile the administration also renewed its effort to maintain peace on the day. After the effort of the administration a delegation of Uttarakhand Berojgar Sangh (UBS) met the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Radha Raturi at her office in the State secretariat on Friday.
In the meeting the representatives of the Sangh which is spearheading the protest of the unemployed youngsters informed Raturi about their demands and the issues of their protest. The ACS listened to the issues with attention and said that they should put their points in a peaceful manner. She said that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami would be apprised about the issues of the unemployed. She said that the government wants to conduct all the recruitment examinations in a transparent and fair manner and for this most stringent anti-copying law has been brought. Raturi said the objective of the proposed law is to ensure a safe and happy future of the youngsters. She said that the objective of the new law is to ensure that the youth get jobs on merit. She told the delegation that in the last one year fair investigation on all cases of examination related irregularities has taken place due to which many culprits are in the jails. The government has acted promptly and a very strong message has come out for those having intention to adopt unfair practices.
