The Mahila Congress’ Uttarakhand  unit has held the State government responsible for the stay imposed by the Uttarakhand High Court on the 30 per cent horizontal reservation given to the women of the State in government jobs.

Addressing the media persons on Wednesday, the State president of Mahila Congress Jyoti Rautela said that the State government failed to put up a strong advocacy due to which the stay was imposed by the HC on women reservation. She said that the State government should now take up the issue to the Supreme Court or promulgate an ordinance on the issue. She said that the Mahila Congress had held a protest at Chief Minister’s residence on Monday on the issue after which cases were registered against the women Congress leaders at the behest of CM. She said that the Congress workers and leaders would not get bogged down by such oppressive measures and continue to fight for the rights of women of the state.
