The cyber police station of Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested the fourth accused of a cyber criminal gang that duped a Haridwar resident of Rs 36 lakh. The deputy superintendent of police of the cyber police station, STF, Ankush Mishra said that the complainant stated in his complaint that a man claiming to be the manager of an insurance company contacted him by phone and told him that his insurance money will be invested in share market and he can suffer huge losses.

The man gave him all details regarding his insurance policy including policy number and other necessary details that reportedly made the complainant believe in his claims. The man advised him to withdraw his money soon and demanded Rs 66,000 as part of the process. He later lured him to invest more to turn his insurance and bond money into Rs one crore and the victim paid him over Rs 36.13 lakh, said Mishra. He said that it was revealed during the primary investigation that four cyber criminals Kuldeep Thakur, Vijay Prakash Aggarwal, Shishir Aggarwal and Saurabh Gupta were reportedly involved in this cyber fraud.

The first three accused had been detained by Uttar Pradesh Police for committing cyber fraud and the trio was in Agra jail. Gupta was also in jail of the Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh on charges of cyber fraud, said Mishra. He said that the court issued a warrant against these accused to give their remand to STF and they got the remand of only three accused- Saurabh, Kuldeep and Shishir. He said that the STF has filed a chargesheet against these accused after gathering ample evidence against them. The STF also came to know about the involvement of another gang member Anshul Aggarwal during the inquiry of other members who were also in jail in Agra. The STF also arrested him after getting a warrant against him and presented him before the court. The court has granted a 14-day remand to STF, added Mishra.
