STF arrest man with smack worth Rs 3.6 crore

The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) unit of the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) with the local police nabbed a 50-year-old man Gajraj Singh with smack worth Rs 3.6 crore from Doiwala area in Dehradun late on Tuesday. The accused belongs to Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district in Himachal Pradesh and was arrested with 1.2 kilogrammes of smack from near Windlass River Valley, Haridwar Road late on Tuesday. Agrawal said that the accused told during interrogation that he had brought the recovered smack from Dhampur in Uttar Pradesh. He revealed that a smuggler from Bareilly usually delivered contraband to him till Dhampur and then Singh used to sell the drugs further through his agents in Paonta Sahib and Dehradun. The accused revealed that he worked as a paint brush maker in Paonta Sahib. He got involved in the drug smuggling business for quick money and had been smuggling smack from Bareilly and Dhampur to his fixed agents in Paonta Sahib and Dehradun for the past two years, Agrawal said. The accused also revealed the names of many other drug smugglers and the authorities will act against them soon after making a concrete plan, he added. He also announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 to the ANTF team.
