STF arrests cow smuggler who attempted to kill policemen

Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested an interstate cow smuggler who had tried to run over policemen in the Pulbhatta area of Udham Singh Nagar on April 13 this year. The senior superintendent of police of Udham Singh Nagar had also announced a bounty of Rs 25,000 on the head of this accused, said STF’s SSP Ayush Agrawal.
He said that the police in Pulbhatta tried to stop two vehicles carrying four accused on April 13 that were reportedly smuggling beef but they ran over the policemen with their cars with the intention to kill them. The policemen barely escaped the attack and were able to successfully stop both cars and reportedly found a total of five quintals of beef from both cars.
The police caught one accused Alim with a pistol but his three accomplices escaped from the spot, said Agrawal. He said that STF started investigating the matter and received information that one of the accused Yunus (31) was living somewhere in the police station Shergarh area adjacent to the Uttarakhand-Uttar Pradesh border. The STF team finally nabbed him late on Tuesday night, added SSP. He said that this is the 38th criminal from the wanted list of STF and his teams are working to nab all wanted accused with distinct strategies to nab them sooner.
