STF arrests kingpin of gang involved in making counterfeit marksheets

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force arrested an absconding accused involved in allegedly making counterfeit marksheets and other educational documents for locals as well as people from other States. The Dehradun police had arrested a 43-year-old Uttar Pradesh resident, Raj Kishore from MDDA Complex in Dehradun on February 1 while two of his accomplices remained absconding.
The senior superintendent of police of STF Ayush Agrawal said that the STF is presently supervising the case as per the order of additional director general of police (Law and Order) V Murugesan. He said that the previously arrested accused Kishore had revealed in the preliminary inquiry that he and his gang registered a trust in the name of ‘National Council for Research in Education’ and also created a fake website for the same.
Subsequently, they promoted the website through various mediums stating they conduct examinations of Class X and XII and issue legit marksheets for Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000. The interested parties belonging to various states used to contact the gang through the mobile number mentioned in the website for registration. Some examinations were also conducted by the accused by sending links to the registered candidates of other states as per the information provided by the accused, said the SSP. He also revealed details about his accomplice Sahendra Pal (41) who was allegedly the leader of their gang and conducted most of the scams.
The SSP said that by activating the informers network and technical support, the STF nabbed him from Muzaffarnagar on Monday. Agrawal said that Pal has confessed to being involved in the scam. He will be soon presented in the court, said the police.
