The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has arrested the main absconding accused involved in the daylight robbery at the State minister Prem Chand Aggarwal’s cousin’s home in Doiwala on October 15, 2022. The accused Parvez alias Baba was wanted in many states and STF has been conducting raids in various states for the past two months to nab him. The Uttarakhand police had also announced a bounty of Rs two lakh on the head of the accused, said the senior superintendent of police of STF Ayush Agrawal. Informing about the case, SSP said that six unknown men entered Shishpal Aggarwal’s house on October 15, 2022 at noon and kept his wife and two maids as hostages in a room and looted the cash and jewellery worth about Rs one crore. It was revealed during the investigation that a contractor from Doiwala named Mehboob (45) had planned this robbery and had worked as a carpenter in the complainant’s house two years ago. He was arrested by Dehradun police from Muzaffarnagar on October 18, 2022 along with his two accomplices. Mehboob knew the daily schedule of the family members and had allegedly approached six robbers from UP to rob the house. The police had arrested eight accused involved in the robbery but two main robbers out of six robbers remained absconding. However, one of the two accused Nafees surrendered himself in the court a few weeks later. He was also wanted in several criminal cases in various states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. It became a challenge for the police to arrest Parvez after which STF started searching for him last year, said SSP. He said, “Parvez had committed several loot, robberies and other offenses after which he used to surrender in the court of the other state. He then used to apply for the bail and then commit offenses again. He also did not use a mobile phone which made it difficult for the police to arrest him. He has committed over two dozen offenses of dacoity, robbery, theft and attempts to murder among others in various states but the police have arrested him only twice.” Agrawal said that after getting information about the possible hiding places of this accused, an STF team has been traveling to different locations in Delhi and Maharashtra for the last two months to arrest him. The team members also stayed at places like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. “The team for information that Parvez was living in Delhi but when the team reached, it found out that only his family was living there at that time. The team members silently observed the movement of his family members there for over a month but Parvez did not come there during this period. However, we got information that his father Alamgir was extremely ill at his home in Meerut and he was expected to meet him there. Considering this, the police team started keeping vigilance around his house and other possible places in Meerut. He was finally nabbed on Saturday when he was going to meet his father,” said SSP.
