STF arrests UP man with 16,080 capsules & 500 injectables

The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) under Uttarakhand State Task Force (STF) claimed to have seized a total of 16,080 prescription capsules and 500 injectable drugs from Gangnahar area in Haridwar district late on Wednesday night. The authorities also arrested Afzal Ahmad, of Behat in Saharanpur district (UP) on a tip off for the possession of the controlled drugs. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of STF, Ayush Agrawal informed that the accused was arrested near the Paniyala highway in Gangnahar with the contraband. He said that the accused was entering the district from Saharanpur late at night on his motorcycle with the intention of selling the contraband.
The ANTF has filed a case against the accused in Gangnahar police station for illegal possession of controlled substances under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The SSP said that considering the increasing cases of drug addiction across the State, the STF has been taking consistent actions against drug smugglers and peddlers to achieve the aim of making the State drug-free. He said that under the drug-free Devbhoomi campaign launched by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, STF has so far arrested 13 accused, seized 21,886 injectables, 18,750 pills, six kilogrammes of Ganja and 782 grammes Charas in seven cases. The SSP also released numbers 01352656202 and 9412029536 and appealed to the public to contact STF through these numbers if they find anyone involved in the selling or smuggling of illegal drugs anywhere in the State.
