STF arrests woman with smack worth Rs 78 lakh

The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) arrested a woman with 259 grammes of smack reportedly worth Rs 78 lakh. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of STF arrested the woman who had been living in the Doiwala area of Dehradun for the past six years and smuggled drugs to students in the area, the senior superintendent of police of STF Ayush Agrawal said. He said that the accused identified as Tahira Khatoon belongs to Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh but had a house in Doiwala here to strengthen her base to smuggle drugs to young students here from Bareilly. The SSP said that Khatoon revealed the names of several peddlers active in the State who buy drugs from her and smuggle them. Most of these peddlers are from Doiwala, especially from Jolly Grant as per her statement. The STF has prepared a list and will take further action on it, he said. Agrawal informed that the ANTF received a tip off about a woman selling drugs to vulnerable young students in the Doiwala area for the past many years. The ANTF team started an investigation into her and finally nabbed her with 259 grammes of smack on Sunday. She has confessed to starting the drug smuggling from Bareilly when she came into contact with big drug smugglers of UP about six years ago. She also built a house in the Doiwala area within the past three years. She used to smuggle drugs mainly through her peddlers. The SSP said that the police had also arrested Khatoon in the past in a drug case. She came out on bail and continued her drug smuggling business. She will be soon presented before the court, he added.
