STF attaches assets of UP gangster of worth over Rs 153 crore

The special task force (STF) of areas concerned have started attaching movable and immovable assets worth over Rs 153 crore of Uttar Pradesh gangster Yashpal Tomar from various places in UP and Haridwar among others. According to the officials, the accused has 2.455 hectare land worth Rs 72 crore in Haridwar which was registered under his brother-in-law Arun Kumar’s name. The Uttarakhand STF has also attached Tomar’s assets in Haridwar under Gangsters Act 1986 after the orders of the district magistrate (DM) of Haridwar Vinay Shankar Pandey. According to Pandey, “STF investigated the matter and submitted a report to me. A legal opinion was taken on the report too. Considering this and other factors, authorities took action against the gangster Yashpal Tomar.”
The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF Uttarakhand, Ajai Singh informed that Tomar and three of his other accomplices- Dheeraj Kumar, Girdhari Chawla and Sachin Chawla were arrested from Gurugram in January for their alleged involvement in several land and property fraud cases. He said that a case was filed against Yashpal Tomar by a Delhi resident Girdhari Lal who accused him and his accomplices of threatening him to sell his 56 bigha land in Jwalapur to them. The STF arrested Tomar and his accomplices from Gurugram after gathering enough evidence against them in January. Singh said that there are about 13 charges imposed on Tomar under various serious sections including two separate land-related cases registered against at Jwalapur and Kankhal police stations in Haridwar. The SSP said that Tomar has assets worth over Rs 153 crore which he allegedly collected through his scams and are spread in Haridwar, Dadri, Badaut, Loni and East Delhi. These assets are being attached by STFs concerned after the approval from respective DMs and Tehsildars, added Singh.
