The Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has arrested one more accused from Uttarkashi allegedly involved in leaking the graduate level recruitment examination question paper of the exam conducted by Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) in December last year. The accused is a 32-year-old man Ankit Ramola who was allegedly working directly with the accused Hakam Singh to leak the papers. The STF has arrested a total of 19 accused in this case so far. The senior superintendent of police (SSP) of STF, Ajai Singh said that Ramola’s name came to light during their investigation and his involvement was also confirmed by some students involved in the case. Singh said, “He was allegedly involved in providing leaked papers to these students. He also carried many students from different locations to the house of one of the accused Tanuj Sharma at the behest of Hakam Singh. We brought him back from Badkot in Uttarkashi to the STF office for probing and arrested him afterwards on the basis of the interrogation and available evidence that indicate his involvement in the case.”
He said that Ramola will be presented in the court soon. “We would be able to comment about the extent of his involvement in the matter only after probing him properly,” said Singh.
On the question of probing the students who attended the exam last year, Singh said, “The authorities are trying to identify only those students who bought leaked question papers to cheat in the exam. Those who have cleared the exam on their own do not need to be unnecessarily worried about it.”
The authorities have also recovered Rs 83 lakh cash during the investigation so far considering which, STF has written a letter to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to conduct an investigation to trace the assets involved in the matter as per the law, informed the SSP.
