A dog was beaten to death by people after it bit 31 people reportedly within a short duration in Haridwar on Wednesday. According to locals, both tourists and local residents were bitten by the dog which was later killed by angry people near Har Ki Paidi. The stray dog is reported to have bitten people walking on the road in the Haridwar Kotwali area on Wednesday morning between 8 AM and 9 AM. The actions of the canine caused panic among the people from Birla Ghat to Har Ki Paidi. People later beat the dog to death using sticks.
The district hospital medical superintendent Dr Chandan Mishra informed that a total of 31 people had been bitten by the stray dog. Seventeen of these people had deeper wounds with some of them also being administered stitches. The people bitten by the dog were administered anti-rabies shots.
