Dehradun Police have completed all preparations to ensure a peaceful Holi in the district. With this objective in view, they have divided the district into three super zones, eight zones, 21 sectors and 53 sub- sectors. Police warned that anyone who tries to indulge in hooliganism or disturb peace under the cover of the festival would face strict legal action.
To ensure fool-proof security, senior police officers have been assigned responsibility for specific areas. Moreover, mobile patrol teams have been deployed across the district and extra police personnel have been posted at sensitive locations. Further, PCR units have been kept ready for quick response.
The police are also monitoring social media platforms round the clock. Officials said that strict action would be taken against anyone found spreading fake news or posting objectionable content that could disturb communal harmony. The organisers of Holika Dahan events have been instructed to hold programmes only at designated places.
Police officials further said they have reviewed incidents from previous years and identified anti-social elements who may try to disturb law and order under the guise of festivities.
“We are taking no chance. Preventive actions have already been taken against such persons. Peace committee meetings have also been held in all police station areas with members of different communities and public representatives. They have been requested to see to it that communal harmony is maintained and immediately inform us about any suspicious or potentially disturbing activity,” said a senior police officer.
