Student accuses polytechnic teachers of taking bribes for cheating

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

A new allegation has surfaced in the teacher assault case at government polytechnic in Pitthuwala, Dehradun. The student, whose father had been suspended from the post of police sub- inspector on Monday and whose alleged cheating video had gone viral on social media, claimed that some teachers had accepted money from students to allow  them to cheat during examinations. Meanwhile, in connection with the cheating allegations, the principal issued a notice to the class invigilator who was on duty during the examination, seeking an explanation regarding the allegations within three days.

“I did not pay any money to the teachers and so they beat and threatened me. They also warned me that if I told anyone about it, they would kill me,” alleged the student Kabir Kandwal.

“On returning home, I informed my parents and my father called the college principal, but the principal did not speak to him and instead provided the phone number of the teacher who was involved. The teacher later apologised to me over the phone,” Kandwal said and claimed that he has a recording of the conversation.

Thereafter, the student’s family went to the college, where teachers were allegedly assaulted.
