Students reaping benefits of KU’s research initiatives: VC

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the vice- chancellor of the Kumaun University Prof Diwan Singh Rawat said while talking to the media persons that the university has taken multiple research initiatives with esteemed educational institutions to enhance the research and innovation opportunities for the students and consequently, the students, particularly the PhD students engaged in research, are reaping benefits. Giving an instance of the research initiatives of the university being recognised, Rawat said that an US-based company has pledged to pay Rs eight lakh to promote research. He further said that an alumnus of the university whose team has won Nobel Prize for its outstanding works in the field of research Sailesh Upreti has assured him that his US-based company would provide assistance amounts up to Rs eight lakh to the meritorious and economically unprivileged PhD students by way of promoting their research works.
Besides, the KU and a Hyderabad-based company have inked a memorandum of understanding recently under which the research students in Chemistry and Pharmacy would receive Rs 8,000 each per month as part of PhD fellowship, the VC said and added that the company would provide the selected students with internship.
