Students receive medals, degrees at KU convocation

The 19th convocation of Kumaun University was held in the DSB campus of the university during which medals were given to 89 students and degrees were given to 19, 750 students. Apart from this, the noted film actor Lalit Mohan Tiwari was presented with honorary degree.
The Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh who is also the chancellor of the university said in his address that the ceremony is not just the distribution of degrees but a new stage towards future. “The youngsters are moving ahead to make India a developed nation and a world leader,” he added. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the students and researchers who received degrees and medals. The State Higher Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat dwelt on the National Education Policy and said it is proving instrumental in making India a developed nation. The vice- chancellor Prof Diwan Singh Rawat said that KU is the first in the country to implement a transparent and financially economical open tender process for confidential printing of examination material. Also, he mentioned that this year the university has secured a good rank in the National Institution Ranking Framework while the Pharmacy department has demonstrated its excellence by securing 62nd rank at the national level.
