 Saturday, 03 February 2024 | PNS | UTTARKASHI

In latest news from Uttarakhand, as part of the fortnight-long National Leprosy Elimination Programme that commenced on January 30, the students of Atal Utkrisht Government Girls Inter College based in Uttarkashi took out a rally. While it was snaking through several roads and intersections, the participants made the people aware of how to eliminate this dreaded skin disease root and branch and rid the society of the leprosy-lined stigma.  The rally was   flagged off by the additional chief medical officer, National Health Mission Dr Birendra Pangati and the district Tuberculosis officer Dr Kulbir Rana. Pangati in his address explained why Leprosy Elimination Programme is observed on January 30 every year during which oath is taken by the officers/employees in all the medical units to end leprosy-based discrimination. During the fortnight, quizzes are being organised in various schools and prizes are being distributed, too.
