Padma Shri recipient and Ayurvedic practitioner Balendu Prakash claimed that a recent study conducted at an eminent clinical research organisation in Mysuru has validated the effectiveness of an Ayurvedic medicine on established immune markers in rodents over a period of 15 days. The study revealed that consumption of Ayurvedic medicine leads to an increase in the levels of Immunoglobulin A, M and G as well as enhances the adhesive properties of neutrophils, combating diseases, thus boosting immunity, he claimed.
He underlined the need for safe and effective immunity-enhancing remedies to help those whose immunity keeps declining due to lifestyle changes, dietary habits and rising pollution.
In recent human clinical trials, this Ayurvedic medicine has been shown to be effective and safe in treating Allergic Rhinitis, he stated.
Prakash explained that Ayurvedic medicines have been effective in treating various chronic and complex diseases. “However, their acceptance and benefits among people remain limited due to lack of scientific evidence. This is why I initiated a project with the help of science experts. I am satisfied with the results of this study and I believe it will stimulate a paradigm shift towards research-oriented thinking in the Ayurvedic community,” he said.
Exuding confidence, he said that this shift would lead to a deeper understanding of the scientific basis behind the efficacy of Ayurvedic medicines.
