Suited Kapdi poses in ‘handcuffs’ for media in Vidhan Sabha

The deputy leader of the Congress Legislature Party and Khatima MLA Bhuvan Kapdi reached the Vidhan Sabha in Dehradun wearing handcuffs as a mark of protest against the treatment meted out to Indian origin people by the United States of America on Thursday. He symbolically wore handcuffs on the third day of the budget session to express his opposition, stating that India must not tolerate such treatment of its citizens. He raised the issue of Indian citizens being deported in restraints and criticised the Central government’s response. Kapdi questioned the government’s stance, asking, “Where is that 56-inch chest? Where are those red eyes? We talk about making India a global leader, yet Indians are being sent back from the USA in chains. Other countries are using helicopters and planes to bring their citizens back but Indians are being treated like prisoners. Even after landing in India, they are taken away in police vehicles. This exposes the reality of the situation.” His protest was in response to reports of the US government deporting illegal immigrants, including those from India and several other countries under strict measures.
