Sunday wrestling competition at Parade Ground

Akhara Sheran Samiti organized a wrestling competition at Parade Ground in Dehradun on Sunday which was a regular event for the past 40 years before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the State. Tilak Raj from the committee informed that the wrestling competition used to be organized every Sunday for the past 40 years in Dehradun but it was discontinued for some time due to Covid and it has been now revived after putting in much effort and help from the Sports department. He said that several wrestlers from participating in the event on Sunday from various States and many showered their love on the resumption of the event after so long.
The secretary of the committee, Brijesh Chawla said that there are a large number of wrestling lovers in Uttarakhand and that the State government should extend its support to promote this sport. Its promotion will help the youth to get interested in wrestling and other sports which can also help in minimizing substance abuse among them. He has urged wrestling lovers to arrive at Parade Ground every Sunday to watch the wrestling matches to enjoy the sport and give their support to wrestlers.
