Haridwar MP and former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Thursday urged voters to support the achievements of the double-engine government and its nationalist ideals. He stated this while addressing gatherings in Bavayi and Swari Gwans villages of Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha constituency to seek support for the BJP candidate Asha Nautiyal in the Kedarnath Assembly bypoll. Rawat advised locals to critically assess both the party and the candidate. He talked about the BJP’s values, commitment, principles and dedication to public welfare, contrasting this with what he described as the Congress’s lack of leadership and organisation. Rawat recounted an incident from his time as CM, stating how Congress’ candidate, who was an MLA at the time, would place conditions before addressing constituents’ concerns to the government. He shared that this Congress leader demanded the CM’s assurance before writing a formal letter for aid to a patient, despite being aware of the urgency. “A true representative should convey public grievances to the government selflessly, but here, political biases were prioritised,” he said. He called on voters to choose the BJP’s compassionate and community-driven candidate Nautiyal, describing her as a true representative of the people’s welfare.

He also highlighted infrastructure development as another key reason to support the BJP. He also reminded the public that they elected the BJP in Kedarnath for a five-year term in 2022, with the late MLA Shaila Rani Rawat’s notable efforts for development in the region. He affirmed the BJP’s commitment to fulfilling her unfinished work in service of the people of Kedarnath for the remainder of the term.
