Sushil Kumar takes over as State Election Commissioner

Former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sushil Kumar has been appointed as the new State Election Commissioner (SEC). He assumed the charge of the new assignment at the State Election Commission on Thursday afternoon. After the end of the tenure of former IAS officer Chandrashekhar Bhatt the important post of SEC was lying vacant for the last eight months. The order for appointment of Kumar on the post of SEC was issued by the secretary Panchayati Raj Chandresh Kumar. The appointment of Kumar assumes importance in the wake of upcoming elections of the urban local bodies (ULB) and three tier Panchayati Raj system.
Kumar is an officer of 2005 batch of IAS ( Uttarakhand cadre). He started his career as an officer of Provincial Civil Services (PCS) and has worked on many positions in the State government. He retired as Garhwal commissioner last year.
