Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed all district magistrates to take any incident related to the law and order situation should be taken seriously. Information received about any such incident from a Revenue area or police area should be taken seriously and swift action should be taken to resolve it.
The CM said this while chairing a meeting with senior officials to review the law and order situation, encroachments and disasters on Sunday evening. Dhami directed that encroachments made by hotels, resorts and for religious activities in forest and other areas should be identified and strict action should be taken without delay. He further ordered strict action on instances of demographic changes along with verification of Madarsas.
The CM said that a calendar of all relevant issues should be prepared at the district level and a fortnightly and monthly review report should be submitted to the State administration. He said that some recent incidents in the State had dented Uttarakhand’s image, adding that all officials should work with alertness and responsibility to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. “We are all responsible for peace and harmony in the State. Any criminal will not be spared, irrespective of who he is while those working honestly should not be harassed. A vigilant eye should be kept from people coming from outside the State. It should also be ensured that problems are not faced in the future due to population density in the State,” he said.
The CM further said that the DMs should ensure that district level issues do not have to be brought to the secretariat. He said that e-Samadhan Chaupal on the lines of the one in Udham Singh Nagar district should be implemented. Seeking information about the status of roads, he said that the roads should be made free of potholes by October 15. He also directed effective measures to check bootlegging, illegal mining and rising number of dengue cases.
