Take immediate steps to save Hindus in Bangladesh: Mahara to PM
PNS | DEHRADUN
Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the atrocities on Hindus are increasing in Bangladesh and the BJP government has failed to protect them. In a letter written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PCC president said that immediate steps should be taken by the Indian government to prevent atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh. He said on one hand former PM Indira Gandhi laid the foundation of Bangladesh by handing over a crushing defeat to Pakistan in the Indo- Pak war of 1971, the BJP government which claims that it has enhanced the pride of India in the world is doing nothing to the issue of Hindus in Bangladesh. He said that the silence of BJP and RSS, the self professed champions of Hindus is surprising on atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh.
The PCC president said that Hindus are not safe in Maldives, Canada and Bangladesh. Taking a dig at BJP, Mahara said it is surprising that those who made claims to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine are helpless in saving Hindus in Bangladesh.
Expressing grave concern over reported bonhomie between Pakistan and Bangladesh, the PCC president said that this could create problems for India. He said that the Indian government should immediately contact the head of the interim government of Bangladesh and solve the issue. The government should not hesitate to break diplomatic relations with Bangladesh if it fails to protect Hindus.
Mahara averred that the Congress party is standing firmly with the government on the Bangladesh issue.
