In latest news from Doon, launching a scathing attack on the BJP-helmed State government on the issue of corruption, the Congress veteran and the leader of the Opposition, Yashpal Arya said that given the growing volume of illegal mining, corruption seemed to have become a norm of governance. “The State government brags zero tolerance on corruption, on one hand, and on the other, it is mired neck-deep in corruption,” he averred.
Throwing full weight behind the former CM and Haridwar MP, Trivendra Singh Rawat who had raised the mining corruption issue in the Lok Sabha, Arya said that it had exposed its appalling magnitude. “It seems clear that the mining mafias have been carrying on their illegal activities in cahoots with those who are ruling the State,” he observed.
